Value Statements

Use the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) principles of Coaching including, being a “Double Goal” Coach:

  1. Provide the players the opportunity to win games at the highest level through their hard work, effort and perseverance.
  2. More importantly, to teach Life Lessons through sports.

Fill the Emotional Tank of the player at all levels by using multiple focused “positive” examples for each specific, calm criticism. Engaging the players in an appropriate manner based on the situation and considering their age and skill level.

Use and explain the PCA ELM Tree of Mastery - Help players master their sport, rather than worrying about the implications of mistakes because mistakes are part of the learning process.

  • E-ffort
  • L-earning
  • M-istakes are OK, and are “No Sweat” because they are part of the learning process.

These programs are to be administered and run as a “Benevolent Dictatorship”. Decisions will be based on 4 Key Factors, in order of importance & priority;

  1. What is in the best interest of the kids participating in the program now, and the kids that will participate in the years to come?
  2. What is in the best interest of the game of lacrosse, and its development and growth in Charlotte?
  3. Will decisions negatively financially influence the program as to put it in jeopardy?
  4. When in doubt refer back to #1

Helping kids fundamentally understand that participation in this program, or any activity, is a privilege, not a right: Respecting your parents and their wishes, academics, prior commitments, and family are all priorities to playing lacrosse, any other game, sport or activity.

Operate under the K.I.S.S Principle – Keep It Simple Stupid!

We STRONGLY encourage players who choose to play with the Zenith Lacrosse program to also participate in fall sports such as soccer or football, and a winter sport like wrestling or basketball to prepare them for the spring lacrosse season

The Core Value of all Zenith Lacrosse Programs shall be the principle of S.P.I.R.I.T.

  • S-portsmanship; Teaching and Reinforcing this value to our participants and establishing it as a corner stone for their success later in life
  • P-erseverance; Make sure that all participants and parents understand that in every part of life you will find adversity; That the only way to get better at something is to raise your expectations and challenge yourself at the highest level; To at first fail, and then to earn and achieve success by focused effort and hard work.
  • I-ntegrity; Say what you are going to do; Mean what you say; Do as you say.
  • R-espect; For The Game, Coaches, Teammates, Opponents, Officials & Yourself
  • I-nstitution; Honoring those who came before and paying their lessons forward
  • T-eamwork; Together a group can achieve more than a collection of individuals

Never forgetting that our “customers” are the parents of our participants, and they are our partners in this endeavor. We would ask only that if you and your child have a positive, quality experience, and achieves his or her goals to tell your friends. Conversely, if a problem arises that you tell the program director, not the coaches, as quickly as possible so we may positively and proactively address any problem or situation in a manner that is consistent with the Values and Vision of the Program. It is only with our parents continuing support, involvement and partnership in their child’s Zenith Lacrosse experience can we hope to flourish as an entity, and provide the opportunity for as many players as possible to play lacrosse at the highest level they desire in Charlotte and the surrounding region.
